ESIII Series:

ESII-Series: packaged space heating and cooling unit (or alternately, water chilling). It is suitable for total environmental control applications (heating, cooling, dehumidification, and water heating).

Absorbing the free, natural heat of the earth provides a very low cost of operation. Efficiencies of 350 to 500 percent are common (with EERs of 26 achievable by design application).

The ESII-Series heating air coil permits very low air flow (to 250 cfm/ton). This, in turn, provides warmer supply air. Cooling mode operates at about 400 cfm/ton. Gentle, low-CFM continuous fan operation requires less than 0.1 KWH of electricity to operate and allows for superior air filtration. Discharge air may be field routed to vertical, horizontal, or counterflow duct positions. Units are standard left-hand air return, however, right-hand return is an option.

Standard application couples the water-side heat exchanger to an open or closed source of natural energy — water, or a water/anti¬freeze mixture. By returning this working fluid to near its source, minus the heat energy, a natural, non-polluting heating cycle is established. Consult local codes for applicable water use regulations.

Because the ESII-Series water flow requirement is the lowest available, pumping cost is minimized. If aggressive water from an open loop source is encountered, use a corrosion-resistant heat exchanger (-CN option) for longer life. Use drain valves in piping to allow for future back-washing (cleaning) of the water heat exchanger, if ever required. Place an ESII-Series unit where the ambient temperature remains above the freezing temperature of the working fluid. A 208-230 v power source is used to operate the refrigerant compressor. An internal 24 v 40 va circuit controls operation through the field supplied standard (TH13) or electronic thermostat (TH14, TH15). If required by design, a supplementary EH-Series electric resistance heat module may be used in conjunction with this unit. See EH-Series specifications for more details on EH-Series operation.

A water-heating heat exchanger (-DSH refrigerant desuperheater) provides supplementary hot water.

The DSH functions when the unit is operating to provide space conditioning. DSH operation requires a field-installed piping circuit with optional circulator to an insulated water tank, i.e. ideal for use with an existing electric or gas water heater. Consult local codes for applicable regulations.

Special Use: When used as a commercial water-to-air chiller, the ESII-Series module rejects heat to the airflow over the refrigerant-to-air coil (condenser), discharged externally, or as per field-supplied design. Consult factory for details.

Remember, the most comfortable geothermal is as easy as ESII-Series! With optional 5-Year Parts and Service Agreement, the ESII-Series has been recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a “Pollution Preventer” and awarded its Energy-Star label. See TETCO limited warranty data for this available option. All specifications subject to change without notice.

ESX-Series: split component heating and cooling compressor section designed for use with a field supplied compatible air handler or dx coil. It is suitable for total environmental control applications (heating, cooling, dehumidification, and water heating).

Absorbing the free, natural heat of the earth provides a very low cost of operation. Efficiencies of 350 to 500 percent are common (with EERs of 19 achievable by design application).

Airflow design for the ESX-Series unit should allow for 400 cfm/ton. Discharge air through the compatible air handler coil may be field routed to vertical, horizontal, or counterflow duct position. An optional accessory refrigerant line set of appropriate size is routed between the compressor and the air handler coil. Always position the air handler coil at a higher elevation than the compressor section. For line set lengths greater than 35 feet, consult factory for instruction.

Standard application couples the water-side heat exchanger to an open or closed source of natural energy — water, or a water/antifreeze mixture. By returning this working fluid to near its source, minus the heat energy, a natural, non-polluting heating cycle is established. Consult local codes for applicable water use regulations.
Because the ESX-Series water flow requirement is the lowest available, pumping cost is minimized. If aggressive water from an open loop source is encountered, use a corrosion-resistant heat exchanger (-CN option) for longer life. Use drain valves in piping to allow for future back-washing (cleaning) of the water heat exchanger, if ever required. Place an ESX-Series unit where the ambient temperature remains above the freezing temperature of the working fluid.

A 208-230 v power source is used to operate the refrigerant compressor. An external 24 v 40 va circuit controls operation through the field supplied standard (TH13) or electronic thermostat (TH14, TH15). If desired, supplementary heat may be added into the airflow downstream from the dx air coil. If supplementary heat is added upstream from the dx coil, the either/or compressor section heating relay must be utilized.

Special Use Application: Used only as a commercial water to air chiller, the ESX-Series module rejects heat to the airflow over the refrigerant to air coil (condenser), discharged externally, or as per field supplied design.

Optional Water Heating: An optional water-heating heat exchanger (-DSH refrigerant desuperheater) is available for supplementary hot water. The DSH functions when the unit is operating to produce space conditioning. This requires a field installed piping circuit with optional circulator to an insulated water tank, i.e., ideal for use with an existing electric or gas water heater. Consult local codes for applicable regulations.

Remember, the most comfortable add-on split system geothermal is as easy as ESX-Series!

A Series: space heating modules (or alternately, water chilling).
They are compatible with existing furnaces, or can be coupled with C-Series cooling coils and B2-Series air handlers for all-season operation. Since heating/cooling loads are seldom the same, separate heating/cooling modules provide the specific load requirement without compromise. Thus, A-Series modules fit a wide variety of applications.

Absorbing the free, natural heat of the earth provides a very low cost of operation. Efficiencies of 350 to 500 percent are common, depending on field application.

The A-Series heating coil permits very low air flow (to 250 cfm/ton). This, in turn, allows for reduced size ductwork and can provide warmer supply air. Where duct sizing permits, standard airflow is 400 cfm/ton. Discharge air in any position — vertical, horizontal, or counterflow.

Standard application couples the water-side heat exchanger to an open or closed source of natural energy — water, or a water/antifreeze mixture. By returning this working fluid to near its source, minus the heat energy, a natural, non-polluting heating cycle is established. Consult local codes for applicable water use regulations.

Because the A-Series water flow requirement is the lowest available, pumping cost is minimized. If aggressive water from an open loop source is encountered, use a corrosion-resistant heat exchanger (-CN option) for longer life. Use drain valves in piping to allow for future back-washing (cleaning) of the water heat exchanger, if ever required. Place an A-Series unit only where the ambient temperature remains above the freezing temperature of the working fluid.

A 208-230 v power source is used to operate the refrigerant compressor. An external 24 v 40 va circuit controls operation through the field supplied thermostat. If required, a supplementary EH-series electric resistance heat module may be used in conjunction with a compatible B2-Series air handler.

Special Use: As a commercial water chiller, the A-Series module rejects heat to any field-supplied airflow over the refrigerant to air coil (condenser).

Optional water heating: An optional water-heating heat exchanger (-HW refrigerant condenser) is available for on-demand hot water. Since the unit operates separately either in space heating or water heating mode, it can provide all normal domestic water heating requirements. To meet this second heating load, the unit generally operates just 1 to 2 hours per day, year-round. This option requires a field-installed piping circulator with thermostatic control to an insulated water storage tank, e.g. ideal for use with field-supplied new or existing electric or gas water heaters.

Again, if corrosive water is encountered, an optional second corrosion-resistant water heating heat exchanger will extend the unit’s life. The water heating option can also be used to heat radiant floors, convectors, fan coils, swimming pools or spas from 70º-130º F. Consult local plumbing codes for applicable potable water regulations.

Remember, the most comfortable geothermal is as easy as A-, B2-, C-Series!

C-Series: direct cooling modules. They are compatible with existing furnaces, or can be coupled with A-Series heating modules and B2-Series air handlers for all-season operation. Since heating/cooling loads are seldom the same, separate heating/cooling modules provide the specific load requirement without compromise. Thus, C-Series modules fit a wide variety of applications.

Direct cooling coils are up to 7 times more efficient than conventional air conditioners. The C-Series cooling coil also permits very low air flows (to 250 cfm/ton). This, in turn, allows for reduced size ductwork and can provide increased dehumidification with water temperatures up to 55º F. Where duct sizing permits, standard airflow is 400 cfm/ton.

Discharge air in any position — vertical, horizontal, or counterflow duct position. However, air must return from high sidewall or ceiling intakes for best results (warmest, most humid air return).

Standard application couples the water-coil to a source of 55ºF or cooler water. By returning this working fluid to near its source, plus the heat energy, a natural, non-polluting air conditioning cycle is established. Consult local codes for applicable water use regulations. Pipe a trapped, condensate drain according to local codes. Place C-Series coils where the ambient temperature remains above the freezing temperature of the working fluid.

An external 24 v 40 va circuit controls operation of a field-supplied standard water solenoid valve through the thermostat.

Note: An optional series piping loop from A- to C-Series (HW option) and simultaneous A-/B2-/C-Series unit operation creates a demand dehumidification cycle for wet environments, e.g., swimming pool/spa enclosures, horticultural space, etc. The result is Total Environmental Control including space heating, water heating, cooling, dehumidification and fan operation. See technical data for details and required accessories.

B2 & EH Series: air handler modules designed for use with conventional duct systems to 0.3 inches-wc external pressure drop. They are easily fitted to A-Series heat modules and C-Series cooling coils for all-season operation.

The use of an oversized fan housing assures quiet operation. The variable-speed motor provides low-torque, slewed starts and stops, and efficient Continuous Mode fan operation, i.e., typically less than 0.1 kwh. Discharge air in any position — vertical, horizontal or counterflow, after determining attachment position to the A-Series unit.

Supplementary connection adapters are available for mating of unit modules in any position. A 208-230 v power source connects to the air handler. The internal 24v 40va circuit controls operation through the field-supplied thermostat for up to 2 stages of heating, cooling, fan and service lamp. EH-Series modules are external insert electric resistance heat modules, suitable for use downstream from any TETCO air handling appliance, e.g. Phase4, ESII, ES, B2-Series. A matching insulated plenum box to house the electric resistance heater is included.

An EH-module is used in field designs that operate the TETCO geothermal unit to a particular balance point of outdoor temperature, with the resistance heat acting as a second or third stage below this selected balance point. An EH-Series module is suitable for continuous use; however, with a 17º F. or lower outdoor balance point, nearly 100 percent of heating required is supplied by the primary Tetco geothermal unit. A 208-230 v., separately-circuited standard power source connects to the EH-Series module. An external 24 v 40 va circuit controls operation from the field-supplied thermostat as a second or third stage of heating.

Installation positioning dictates that all air handler air flow crosses the electric resistance heater. See air handler installation instructions for proper positioning. Proper EH-Series selection requires minimum airflows (cfm) per KWH in use.

W-Series: hydronic heating modules (or alternately, water chilling). They are compatible with existing boilers and conventional hydronic distribution systems.

Alternately, this module couples to a C-Series cooling coil and B2-Series air handler, or other 2-, 4-pipe loop distribution for all-season operation. W-Series modules fit a wide variety of low-temperature hydronics applications up to 130º F, or standard chiller applications as low as 37º F (water) or 25º F (water/anti-freeze).

Absorbing the free, natural heat of the earth provides a very low cost of operation. Efficiencies of 350 to 500 percent are common, depending on field application.

The W-Series standard hydronic/chiller flow rate is as low as 2 gpm per nominal ton. Consult technical data for flow rates required at specific temperatures. Low temperature distribution systems, e.g., radiant floors, fan coils or swimming pools, are particularly well-suited for this product. In addition, the lower the hydronic temperature is for distribution, the higher the operational efficiency.

Standard application couples one water-side heat exchanger to an open or closed source of natural energy — water, or a water/antifreeze mixture. Return this working fluid to near its source, minus the heat energy, to establish a natural, non-polluting heating cycle. Consult local codes for applicable water use regulations.

By reversing the refrigerant path with a changeover valve, the module adds heat energy to the working fluid. Thus, with the reversing option (-R), W-Series modules can move heat in either direction.

Because the W-Series water flow requirement is the lowest available, pumping cost is minimized. If aggressive water from an open loop source is encountered, use a corrosion-resistant heat exchanger (-CN option) for longer life. Use drain valves in piping to allow for future back-washing (cleaning), if ever required. Place a W-Series unit where the ambient temperature remains above the freezing temperature of the working fluid.

A 208-230 v power source operates the refrigerant compressor. An external 24 v 40 va circuit controls operation through the field-supplied thermostat. If required, use a supplementary field-supplied electric resistance hydronic heater or boiler in the piping circuit downstream from the W-Series module.

Note: The return water to the hydronic heat exchanger (condenser) must remain between 60-125º F. Consult factory for written instruction prior to operation outside this condenser temperature range.

Optional 2nd Zone Water Heating: An optional 2nd Zone water-heating heat exchanger (-Z) is available for on-demand water heating. Since the unit operates separately in either 1st zone hydronic heating or 2nd zone water heating mode, it can provide all normal domestic hot water requirements. To meet this second load, the unit generally operates just 1 to 2 hours per day, year-round. Field install a pumping circuit with thermostatic control to an insulated water storage tank, i.e. ideal for use with an existing electric or gas water heater. Used commercially, compute combined loads to determine the W-Series’ size requirement. Use the 2nd zone water heating option to heat radiant floors, convectors, fan coils, swimming pools or spas. Consult local codes for applicable regulations.

Again, if corrosive water is encountered, use an optional second corrosion-resistant heat exchanger to extend the unit’s life.

W-Series units with reversing (-R), 2nd zone (-Z) options are the most adaptable of geothermal heating/cooling products. Maintain two independent heating zones, and one reverse-cycle chilling zone from a single unit. W-Series units support (where the utility rate structure merits) off-peak heat/cool storage.

Note: If part-load conditions are likely, i.e., due to multiple zone fan coils, or intermittent cooling of industrial loads, use an intermediate insulated buffering tank for either hydronic or chilled water application. This will prevent rapid, unacceptable cycling of the W-Series compressor. Consult factory for other customized part-load options.
